Guesthouses in The Cotswolds, England

The Cotswolds includes parts of the counties of Worcestershire, Warwickshire, Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire and Wiltshire. It is the name given to a range of hills in central England, rising to a height of 1,000 feet and designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

The north of the area includes the Severn Valley, the east has Oxford and the south the River Thames. The area was a major producer of wool in the middle ages and some of the drovers roads are still in existence today. The Cotswolds is famous for it's picturesque little villages and the yellow limestone that is used to build many of the cottages and houses. Typical towns showing this include Burford, Chipping Norton, Cirencester, Moreton-in-Marsh and Stow-on-the-Wold. The region has the largest number of conservation areas in the UK. There are plenty of national Trust properties to visit. Activities include walking, riding, fishing, cycling and visiting the delightful and traditional English pubs!

The region has very good road and rail links to the rest of the country. The major towns such as Oxford have all the services and facilities that the holiday visitor could require and shopping is a delight with most major chains represented plus craft shops in the smaller towns and villages.

Places to visit include the Thames Valley towns of Cirencester, Lechlade and Fairford. We list guest houses in Guest House Rooms in The Cotswolds, England, below.
