Devon is a very beautiful county and is an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It has pretty seasdie fishing villages, rolling countryside, thatched cottages, a rugged coastline with sandy bays and beaches, too. It is famous for it's cream teas . . . .
The north coast is the place to go for sandy beaches and little villages by the sea. The south coast is where the main seaside resorts are located such as Paignton and Torquay. We list guest houses in Devon in our web site.
The areas most visited are around the coast-line leaving the inland places largely unspoiled and generally less crowded.
The county has two national parks, namely Exmoor and Dartmoor. See our county notes for Dartmoor. Exmoor is relatively high and flat with beautiful scenery and wild life, whilst Dartmoor has a rugged terrain with hills and lakes, good for walking and cycling.
