Gwent is known as the gateway between South Wales and England. The middle is a flat plain area but to the east and west there is the beautiful Wye Valley, whilst to the north there are the mountains.
The county has some magnificent secnery and many historic sites to see including Tintern Abbey and many castles. The principle town is Cwmbran. Newport, however, is the largest town and has the Norman Cathedral and a ruined castle.
